Avery May

September 4, 2003 — December 23, 2023

Avery Richard May of Indianapolis, IN was killed in a head-on collision that was not his fault. It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce his passing. As of December 23, 2023, he was received in the arms of Jesus' grace. Avery was 20 years young, born on September 4, 2003, in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was a precious son to Eric R. May and Nina J May.

Avery attended Trinity Lutheran School, Pre-K through 8th grade and New Palestine High School - Class of 2022. He started working as an employee at Menards in high school prior to starting with Capitol City Ford. He was actively attending Parkland College in Champaign, IL. He was enrolled in the Ford Asset Program sponsored by Capitol City Ford. He was again on the Dean's List and on target to graduate as a Certified Ford Mechanic come May of 2024. Consequently, Avery will be awarded his certifications posthumously. He loved the Ford Asset Program and the friendships he had grown through the program and the company. Avery was doing an amazing job creating his path for life. He had a bright future awaiting him. His love and knowledge for the mechanics of cars was growing and prospering. He loved gaming, kayaking, fishing, being on/in the water and Camp May. He greatly enjoyed hanging with family and friends. Avery was kind-hearted, patient, encouraging, and a child of God. This was always evident by his daily actions. He was full of love, life, joy and laughter. He was deeply in love with his girlfriend of four years, Rylee. They both knew they were each other's forever after.

He was an incredible son, brother and friend these 20 years. As his parents, we have been extremely proud of him. He was a light in our world and others as well. We thank all the people; his family, his teachers, his friend's parents, his friends, his church family, Menards and Capitol City Ford who took him under their wings for this short time. Everyone helped us mold him into this incredible 20 year old we were blessed to call ours.

There will be a celebration of Life at Trinity Lutheran Church, 8540 East 16th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46219 on Saturday, January 20th, 2023 @ 11:00 AM with an ice cream social to follow at the same location. Avery was greatly loved and will be deeply missed by all. Avery is survived by his father, Eric R. May; his mother, Nina J. May; his sisters, Rachel Smith (James; nephew and niece, James & Ruby) and Morgan Doucleff; grandmothers, Toni F. Smith and Ruth May; and many aunts, uncles and cousins that loved him dearly. Avery was preceded in death by his big brother, Nathan A. May; his grandparents, Ronald and Wanda May, and Dalton A. Smith.

We were beyond blessed; Avery was ours on this earth, and now he rests with Christ.
