Audrey Desser Jansen, 82, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2025, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was born in Erie, Pennsylvania on September 23, 1944, to the late Frank J. Desser and Ida (Donikowski) Desser. She graduated from the Academy High School in Erie, PA and spent her entire career at GTE where she retired in 1994.
Audrey was the beloved wife of James Jansen, with whom she shared 56 wonderful years of marriage. Their bond was truly inseparable, and their love was evident to all who knew them, a steady and enduring example of deep companionship.
Audrey will be remembered for her kindness, warmth, and wonderful sense of humor. She devoted her life to building a strong and loving marriage with James, caring for her family, and embracing life’s simple joys. Together, they shared a passion for travel, exploring new places and creating lasting memories. Their love of travel eventually led them to a second home in Sarasota, Florida, where they spent many happy times together. These cherished moments, filled with laughter and warmth, were at the heart of her life.
She will also be remembered for her strong sense of purpose, her deep devotion to her husband, and the quiet pride she took in caring for her home and daily life with grace and dedication.
Audrey is survived by her sister, Bernadette (Charles) Csernik of Fort Mill, South Carolina; her sister-in-law, Judy (Gerald) Baracka of Cincinnati, Ohio; and her many nieces and nephews: Cheryl (Jim) Hemsoth, Darlene (Ken) Konopasek, Frank (Lisa) Csernik, Rennae King, Christine (David) Heider, Mark (Wendy) Baracka, Cheryl (Paul) Lepp, Caroline (Tom Bohn) Baracka, and JoAnn Baracka. She is also survived by several grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Ann Desser; her nephew, Michael Baracka; and her niece, Carla Baracka Seitz.
Audrey will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
