Listen to Obituary

Anthony "Tony" Wyss passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of July 15,2025

Tony was born in Beech Grove Indiana on January 13,1957 to the late James and Ruthann (Gehring) Wyss

He Lived his entire life in Indianapolis, attending St James the Greater school and church, graduated from Manual High School, and went on to earn a degree in HVAC from ITT.

Tony worked in the HVAC industry for over 30 years, eventually leaving that to rehab houses which he continued until his health began to fail.

Even then, Tony never quit learning. He constantly read of all the new equipment and procedures. Able to answer any questions on HVAC.

He taught himself the computer, and any programs he wanted to learn. Tony could run circles around anyone with questions regarding iPhones.

He loved to learn. Even when his body wasn't willing, his mind was sharp as a tack to the very end.

Though Tony no longer attended a brick and mortar church, his faith was strong. He felt he was closest to God when he was outdoors.

He loved watching the wildlife and birds. Identifying flowers and trees and all things God had created. It was one of his greatest joys.

Tony also enjoyed NASCAR, traveling to several tracks through the years. He loved to fish, whether they were biting or not, again, just happy to be outdoors.

He loved his family especially watching the little ones grow. He worried what the world would be like when they became adults.

I have no doubt Tony will be watching over each and every one of them.

Tony is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Carol (Gethers), brothers Bernard, Phillip, David (Lori) , and Mark and brother in law Steve.

1 niece, 4 nephews, 2 great nieces, and 4 great nephews, and many cousins.

And of course his cat Cricket.

Tony was proceeded in death by his parents, and 3 sisters, Christina, Marianne, and Lisa.

A special thank you to dear friends EJ and Brandi Crist for installing a deer feeder at the hospice house. Tony spent many hours night and day watching the deer come up to eat.

The deer had a calming effect for him and gave him great joy and comfort and helped him pass the time. Watching the young bucks mature from nubs on their heads to full grown racks. Little things like that meant so much.

A heartfelt thank you to the nurses, techs, and staff of Franciscan Hospice House for the care, concern, dignity and sometimes even laughs. You became Tonys' extended family.

He cared deeply for each and everyone of you and your kindness and concern for both of us is what makes you all a remarkable group of people.

Visitation will be August 8, from 2-5pm with services beginning at 4pm at Indiana Funeral Care, 2433 E Main Street, Greenwood, Indiana 46143

In memory of Tony, please consider donating to Indy Neighborhood Cats, The FACE clinic, or donations of bird seed or deer food to the Franciscan Hospice House so that others can enjoy and find peace in the wildlife there.

Though he may have lived a full life, for those of us left behind, it wasn't long enough. But as Tony would always say "It is what it is"
