Anita Kay Bruce, 84, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2026, surrounded by the care and support of her family.

Anita Kay Bebee was born on February 5, 1942, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Bruce and Wilma Bebee. She grew up in Indianapolis and graduated from Lawrence Central High School.

A devoted homemaker throughout much of her life, Anita took pride in caring for her home and family. She enjoyed cooking, maintaining a welcoming household, and caring for the many pets she loved over the years. Most recently, she shared a special bond with her beloved cat, Gummy Bear.

Anita was known for her sense of humor and for creating family traditions that continue to this day. One favorite was the family's long-running "Eve" tradition—a friendly competition to be the first to wish someone a happy birthday, holiday, or special occasion by calling out "Eve" the day before. It became a cherished ritual that connected generations and remains part of the family's story.

She loved music, especially the songs of Elvis Presley. Her daughter Robyn fondly remembers Sunday mornings filled with Elvis gospel music playing throughout the house as they cleaned and prepared for the week ahead.

Although a long-time resident of Jupiter, Florida, among Anita's happiest years were those spent with her husband, David Bruce, in Inman, South Carolina. Following David's retirement, they enjoyed life in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, where family gathered during summer vacations and created many happy memories.

Anita was preceded in death by her parents, Bruce and Wilma Bebee; her husband, David Bruce; and her son, Tim.

She is survived by her daughters, Kimberly Staley (Clair), Robyn Blair (Lance) and son, Brett; her grandchildren; and extended family members.

The family extends its sincere appreciation to the caregivers at Carmel Health & Living as well as the Legacy Hospice team who provided compassionate care during Anita's final weeks.

Her family finds peace and comfort in the memories they shared, the traditions she helped create, and the time they were able to spend together during her final days.
