Andrew Willard Lawrence, born on October 1, 1982, in Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on July 7, 2025. A man of profound dedication and skill, Andrew will be remembered as a devoted father, son, brother, and veteran who touched the lives of many through his work, education, and commitment to service.
Andrew's professional journey was marked by his role as a Journeyman Installer Technician at several esteemed companies, including ERMCO, Tech Electronics of Indiana, ATEC, Barth Electric Company, and South Western Communications. His passion for the electrical trade led him to become an instructor at the Electrical Training Institute of Indianapolis, where he shared his knowledge and expertise with the next generation of technicians.
An educated individual, Andrew graduated from Emmerich Manual School in 2001 and further honed his skills at the Electrical Training Institute, where he excelled in Electrical, Electronics, and Communication Engineering. He also earned an Associate's Degree in Labor Studies and an Associate of Science in Business Administration/Logistics Management from Ivy Tech Community College. He was distinguished for his accomplishments by attaining several certifications, including Certified Master Electrical Code Professional (CMECP), Certified Fiber Optic Technician (CFOT), and Certified Fiber Optics Specialist (CFOS), one of the few in Indiana to receive this recognition.
Andrew proudly served in the United States Navy from June 14, 2001, to February 26, 2004. His military career included valuable time spent at sea during extended deployments in the Western Pacific. He was a graduate of Navy Basic Training at Great Lakes Naval Station and later trained as an Avionic Technician/Plane Captain at Naval Air Station, Pensacola, Florida. Throughout his service, he contributed to numerous significant operations, including Operation Southern Watch, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Iraqi Freedom, earning several military awards for his exemplary service.
Andrew is survived by his four beloved children, Olivia Renee Lawrence, Charlotte Elizabeth Louise Lawrence, Elanie Lynsey Lawrence, and Alexander Bradley Lawrence. He leaves behind his father, Willard "Bud" E. Lawrence, and his sister, Jodi C. Black, alongside his great niece, Leah G. Jones.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Laura "Kathy" K. Lawrence, his nephews, Lynsey K. Painter and Christopher "Logan" Jones, and his grandparents: Willard L. Lawrence, Donale E. and Gwendolyn Shaffer, Frederick O. Bartholomew, and Alberta N. Bartholomew.
A memorial gathering will be held on July 18, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a memorial service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, both taking place at the Indiana Funeral Care - Greenwood Chapel located at 2433 E. Main St., Greenwood, IN 46143. A graveside service will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Garden at 1:00 PM.
