Amy Sue Brown, née Richard, a cherished wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2026, in her beloved hometown of Indianapolis, Indiana, surrounded by her loved ones. Born on December 14, 1974, Amy lived a life richly devoted to family, faith, and community.
Amy’s greatest joy sprang from her role as a homemaker, a vocation she embraced with unwavering love and dedication. She delighted in every precious moment spent nurturing her children and grandchildren, weaving warmth and light into the fabric of their lives. Beyond her home, Amy shared her natural gift for teaching with children at various day care centers and through her work as a substitute teacher. Her compassionate spirit also led her to serve as a dispatcher for the Indiana State Police Department, where her steady presence was a source of calm and reassurance. Yet, none of these roles compared to her favorite—being a stay-at-home mom, a role she cherished deeply and carried out with diligence and grace.
Amy’s heart was also reflected in her vibrant church life. An active and dedicated member of the Obdioi and Rock Solid Youth Ministries, she loved attending services, nurturing young hearts as a mentor, and eventually becoming a sponsor in the group. The joy she found in teaching children, both in her church and at daycare, was unmistakable—a testament to her generous soul and steadfast faith.
Her days were made brighter by leisure pursuits that brought her happiness and balance; she enjoyed bowling outings and treasured the fellowship and strength she found in her family and friends.
Amy’s legacy is carried forward by the family she held so dear. She is survived by her devoted husband, Joshua Ray Brown, with whom she shared a loving marriage since July 10, 2005. Together they built a beautiful family, including daughters Zoey Brown (Shane Rodarmel), MiaLeigh Brown-Wray (Timothy Wray), Brooklyn Brown (Jaydon Nguyen), and Shyann Bragg; sons Brayzan Brown and Braxtyn Brown. Her gentle guidance and boundless affection are also remembered fondly by her grandchildren Cadynce Nicholson, RayLyn Nicholson, Myron Wray, Elijah Nicholson, MakenzLeigh Wray, Rhyett Rodarmel, and Ameri Nguyen.
Amy was also a beloved daughter to Darla Gray and Larry Ray Richard, and a dear sister to William “Willie” Richard. Her family and friends will forever hold her memory close, inspired by her loving nature and enduring strength.
