Agnes T. Lattak

Agnes T. Lattak entered into the loving arms of Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior, on Wednesday August 5, 2026.

She was born in St. Margaret’s Hospital in Hammond, Indiana on January 30, 1936 to Joseph and Mary Lattak. She attended grade school at st. John Baptist Catholic School, George Rogers Clark High School, and Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree.

She taught Journalism in the Language Arts Department at Nile Junior High School in Niles, Michigan in 1959. She then taught English and Journalism at Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois. She subsequently worked creating costumes and hats at the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis, Minnesota, followed by similar work at several Broadway Theatres in New York City. She studied for and attained her Registered Nurse designation while finishing her working career in Administration at Columbia University, also in New York City.

She returned to Whiting, Indiana to care for her mother until her passing in 2016. Agnes enjoyed cooking, reading, and visiting with family. she was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.

She was pre-deceased by her Father, Joseph, and her mother, Mary, her younger sister, Marjeanne (Lattak) Cuklin, and her older sister Vena Sunland (nee Mary Ann Lattak). She is survived by her younger brother, Joseph Hunter-Lattak of Carmel, Indiana, her niece, Laura Gillpatrick of Eugene, Oregon, her niece, Angela Thompson of St. Joseph, Michigan, and her nephew, Christopher Lattak, also of St. Joseph, Michigan and their families.

There will be no calling. Services and final arrangements will be private.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Munster Med Inn, Munster, Indiana and Transitions Health Hospice, Munster, Indiana for the care extended to Agnes. Their kindness and attention to her needs is greatly appreciated.
