Sharie Morgan

June 1, 1950 — May 16, 2020

Sharie (Thun) Morgan, 69, of Noblesville, died May 16, 2020. Sharie was born on June 1, 1950, in Chicago, IL to Ewald and Frieda Thun. After graduating from Woodstock Community High School in Woodstock, IL, she attended Purdue University where she earned her degree in Pharmacy in 1973.

While attending Purdue, Sharie met her husband of 48 years, Greg Morgan (Goodland, IN). Sharie worked for 15 years as a retail pharmacist before making a career change and pursuing ministry full time. Sharie served as an associate pastor at St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Kokomo, IN until 2001. During that time, she twice served as a delegate to the UMC General Conference and also studied Divinity at Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary. Sharie thoroughly enjoyed her responsibilities in areas of children’s ministry, Stephen’s Ministry, and liturgy.

In 2001, Sharie retired from working full time but remained active in the church. At St. Mark’s UMC in Carmel, IN, she was known for giving “sermons in the bag” for the children, performing skits with her puppet Ruthie, and constructing custom greeting cards and sending them to people who needed encouragement. Sharie also enjoyed lunches with her JULIETs group, working on crafts, praying, reading, and collecting keepsakes.

In recent years, Sharie’s health began to deteriorate due to Type 1 diabetes, with which she had been diagnosed at age 11. Even though her mobility and quality of life became limited, Sharie retained her strong faith and took joy in her family, particularly her grandchildren.

Sharie is survived in her immediate family by her husband, Greg (Noblesville), daughter Summer Morgan (Dallas, TX), daughter Stacey Brown (husband Travis; Noblesville), and grandchildren, Cameron and Tyson Brown, in addition to many beloved members of extended family. Sharie was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Edward Thun (Chicago, IL) and Kenneth Thun (Milwaukee, WI).
