Ruth Deloris Saeger

August 13, 1928 — March 14, 2021

Ruth Deloris (Butler) Saeger, 92, of Greencastle, Indiana passed away on Sunday, March 14, 2021 at Putnam County Hospital.

She was born on Monday, August 13, 1928 to the late Wilmer Aldo and Laura Etta (Bledsoe) Butler in French Lick, Indiana. She was one of 8 children born to the union.

Ruth attended and graduated from West Baden High School in 1946 and then attended Indiana Business College in Evansville, Indiana. In 1948 she married Maurice Carl Saeger and together they raised four children, Laura (Toni) Harvey Lukenbill, Andrea (Ande) Sanders, Mauri Thomas Saeger and Max Christian Saeger.

Ruth was employed at Kingans, Real Silk, Kraft Foods and retired from Indianapolis Metropolitan Transportation now known as Indy Go.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Maurice Saeger; sons, Mauri Saeger, Max Saeger; parents Wilmer and Laura Butler; brothers, Ralph Butler, Glenn Butler, Warren Butler, John David Butler; sisters, Betty Lou (Butler) Wininger and Rosemary (Butler) Crider Monday.

Ruth is survived by daughters, Laura Lukenbill and her husband William, Andrea Sanders, and her husband Jack; sister, Lois Jean Mills Stalcup; 3 grandchildren, Mickie Baute, Sheridan Harvey, Jacob Harvey; 5 great grandchildren, Daniel Hoover, Reece Baute, Myah Baute, Greyson Grooms Harvey, Jackson Harvey; and 1 great great grandson, Landon Hoover.

Ruth loved being a grandma as well as traveling everywhere with her husband of 55 years. She also loved her pets Leo the cat and Gayle, her greyhound.

Ruth will be buried at Floral Park Cemetery.

A celebration of life will be planned later this year.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Foundation or ASPCA.
