Mary Jean Brown

December 18, 1952 — August 15, 2020

Mary Jean Brown was born in Blessing Hospital, Quincy, Illinois on December 18, 1952. She was the daughter of J.B. and Lucille Thornton of Ursa, Illinois. She had one sister Sharon Harrison of Licking, Missouri and one brother John Thornton who preceded her in death on July 10, 2018. She went to Unity High School in Mendon, Illinois. She had 2 two daughters from her previous marriage, Melissa Edwards of Fortville, Indiana and Karrie Gooding who preceded her in death on November 10, 2018. She married Dan Brown on October 15, 1995 and they lived in Anderson, Indiana.

Mary was a strong loving woman who had fought cancer since she was eight years old. She developed the disease in her thyroid, uterine, lungs, breast, and then the cancer metastasized into her bones. Mary was a true fighter! She came through each bout of this disease through her determination and faith. She loved her family more than anything and wanted nothing more than to be there for them always. This was especially true for her three grandchildren, Alexis and Devon Edwards, and Adisyn Gooding.. Her best friend Patti (Knox) McGinley was with her when she went Home along with her husband, Dan, her daughter, Melissa, and her sister Sharon on Saturday, August 15,2020.

Mary was so much more than the cancer that she battled over her lifetime. She was loving, compassionate, giving, selfless, and stronger than any person you will ever know. She loved decorating and always made her home beautiful using those talents. She made many beautiful DIY projects that she gave to family and friends. She loved having family get-togethers and was always smiling on these occasions. Mary also loved to cook and travel with her hubby. She had many adventures with her family and friends. We will never forget your smile, your love, and the memories that we shared. We love you the mostest.
