Kristin Knoblauch

June 25, 1961 — July 6, 2020

Kristin Louise Knoblauch, age 59, passed away peacefully at Lakeview Manor in Indianapolis on July 6, 2020.

She was born on June 25, 1961 to Dr. K. Richard Knoblauch and Virginia (Stout) Knoblauch at Abington Memorial Hospital in Abington PA.

Kristin touched many lives with her big smile and bigger heart. She graduated from Brownell School in Grosse Pointe Michigan in 1987. She enjoyed many recreational activities including bowling, softball, swimming and was active in the Neighborhood Club of Grosse Pointe along with many of her friends from school. She participated in the Special Olympics. She also enjoyed word search puzzle books, painting her fingernails and shopping. Every summer she looked forward to attending summer camp at Camp Fowler in Michigan.

She was one of the first residents of the Lakepointe group home in Grosse Pointe Park Michigan. This was established by the hard work of many advocates for adults with developmental disabilities including her parents Richard and Virginia. She thrived with this transition and was supported by many wonderful people at this home. She was an honorary board member for the ARC (Association for Retarded Citizens) of Grosse Pointe/Harper Woods from 2012-2015. She enjoyed attending the Judson Center for adults with developmental disabilities. She also worked at Arby’s for many years. She enjoyed traveling to visit her family at holiday times.

She moved to Indianapolis in 2017 to be closer to her family. She transitioned smoothly to her new group home setting at the DeMarillac home in Indianapolis and enjoyed attending New Hope Day Services Center. She was a member of Central Christian Church in Indianapolis.

Survivors include her sisters Kathryn Knoblauch of Indianapolis IN and Carolyn (Alan) Musholt of Quincy Illinois. Nieces and nephews include David (Brittany) Musholt of Des Peres MO, Abigayle Musholt of Wauwatosa WI, Steven Musholt of Fort Benning GA, and Kayla Knoblauch of Indianapolis IN. She is also survived by her Aunt Peggy and Uncle Paul Miller of Las Cruces NM and Aunt Janet Zimmerman of Langhorne PA in addition to many cousins.

Her parents K. Richard Knoblauch and Virginia Knoblauch preceded her in death.

A private celebration of Kristin’s life will be held on July 18, 2020 at Central Christian Church, Indianapolis with final internment at Highland Cemetery in Hopewell NJ.
