George Augustus Martin Jr.

George Augustus Martin Jr., was born April 28, 1935 in Maysville, Kentucky. He attended local schools graduating from Crispus Attucks High School in 1953. He subsequently served in United States Army. He attended Indiana Business College and also Indiana Central College (Indianapolis University) receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics in 1974. He also attended IUPUI, being enrolled in the School of Public and Environmental Affairs from 1974 to 1976.

His work record included six years at the Army Finance Center, Fort Harrison; US Army Reserves, Fort Harrison; and retiring from the Food Brokerage firm Nicholas Company in the year 2000.

He married Barbara Jean Martin on June 9, 1963, they were married for 52 years until she passed away on August 24, 1915. They professed a belief in Jesus Christ, being charter members of Covenant Community Church.

Others preceding him in death were his parents Rev. George A. Martin Sr., and Edith Williams Martin; brothers John F. Martin and Leslie S. Martin.

Survivors include his son Kevin Martin; nephew Cedric L. Reynolds; brother Joseph Martin; sister Edith Lucille Reed; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

Services for George will be held on Monday, November 30, 2020 at 12:00 noon at Indiana Funeral Care, Harry W. Moore Chapel, 8151 Allisonville Road. Visitation will be held one hour prior beginning at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at New Crown Cemetery.
